Nicole's One-Woman Show: Le Grand Fromage

Le Grand Fromage cover image

In 2018, my one-woman show: Le Grand Fromage premiered in Seattle. This project took me five years to complete (writing a play is SO different from writing a book!) — and I couldn't be more proud.

Le Grand Fromage is the story of my adventurous life in the kitchen — from La Varenne in Paris, to catering the Academy Awards, to writing books and mixing drinks for Queen Elizabeth. My marriage to classical composer, Ami Aloni, underscores the journey with love and emotional adventure. Since the show takes place during a cooking class, there are intervals where I really teach and really cook. In between, my life story bubbles to the surface.

It chronicles my hero's journey to re-claim my life's purpose — the one I first declared at age five. Though the family found my declaration confusing — my mother's response was to post a sign on my bedroom door, "Le Grand Fromage". I took it to heart.
